is weird

Titusville is wild. On one hand, it is home to most NASA employees and there was a whole episode about it on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” On the other, it has some classic small-town vibes, with mom and pop shops everywhere and a high rate of teen pregnancy. But no matter how you slice it, Titusville is weird.

From its birth, Titusville has been weird. It was founded by Colonel Henry Titus, whose entire life is disputed. We aren’t totally sure when he was born or how he ended up here. But he did and turned a small town into a less small town that became a hub of activity in the late 1800s.

A little less than a hundred years later, that small town became the home of the Kennedy Space Center and many of its employees. This caused a boom of economic and infrastructure growth.

Then, to give the whole town even more flavor, human remains were dug up during the construction of a housing development. Those remains turned out to be more than 7000 years old and incredibly well preserved by the Florida mud.

And it doesn’t stop being weird. From dead hookers in the river to alligators in the Burger King, Titusville is always throwing more weird stuff at its residents. You can read more about these weird details of this small town by clicking the pictures below.
